Implementing Cancer Screening Programs by Training Primary Care Physicians in India—Findings from the National Institute of Cancer Prevention Research Project ECHO for Cancer Prevention

In 2016, the Government of India launched a national program for screening and prevention oral, breast, cervical cancer. support, National Institute Cancer Prevention Research (NICPR) adopted Project ECHO (Extension Community Healthcare Outcomes) model training health care providers in cancer screening. We assess change knowledge skills among physicians attending hybrid (i.e., online person) NICPR-ECHO trainings impact on implementation services. Prior to start phase upon completion 14 weeks, trainees answered 23-item questionnaire, including visual vignettes. conducted descriptive bivariate analysis pre-post assessments from participating wherever available report weekly quizzes hands-on workshop assessments. A total 641 medical officers participated May 2019 February 2020. Across nine cohorts trainees, only 116 primary completed both pre- post-assessments. Almost two-thirds (69.7%) 85% were working government healthcare facilities.
